Vijnana Bharati and govt organises curtain raiser event to mark adoption of National Calendar of India,

It should be noted that the ‘Indian National Calendar’, is a scientific expression of India’s identity and was adopted constitutionally by our parliament in 1957.

To mark the 65th anniversary of the adoption of the National Calendar of India way back in 1957, a mega curtain raiser event and website inauguration of a two-day national conference and exhibition on ‘The National Calendar of India’ was held in Delhi on 22 March.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Culture, was the chief guest at the event. Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology; Dr. R. Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences; Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR and Prof. Venu Gopal Achanta, Director, CSIR-NPL were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.

Vijnana Bharati, in association with the Ministry of Culture, Department of Science and Technology, has organized the five such curtain raiser events to promote and popularise the Two-Day Conference and Exhibition on the National Calendar of India, which has been scheduled for Vaisakh 2 & 3, 1944 (April 22-23, 2022) at Ujjain and Dongle.

As per the press release, six curtain raiser events are organized on ii) Chaitra 08, 1944 (29March 2022) at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru; iii) Chaitra 15, 1944 (05 April 2022) at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata; iv) Chaitra 16, 1944 (06 April 2022) at Guwahati; and v) Chaitra 20, 1944 (10 April 2022) at Central University of Jammu, Jammu; and vi) Chaitra 16, 1944 (11 April 2022) at University of Mumbai, Mumbai.

These curtain-raisers will make the younger generation well aware of the Indian National Calendar. The ministry has also opened online registrations for participation in this event. Selected participants will be given an opportunity to join the conference at Ujjain.
