Udayanidhi’s ‘Sanatan Dharma’ remark – SC lawyer files complaint with Delhi Police

New Delhi. On Sunday, a Supreme Court lawyer lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police against Udayanidhi Stalin, the Sports Minister of the Tamil Nadu, and the son of the TamilNadu Chief Minister over a controversial statement made by Udayanidhi Stalin on Saturday regarding ‘Sanatan Dharma’.

The complainant, Vineet Jindal, a practicing lawyer, alleges that Udayanidhi delivered a speech containing provocative, inflammatory, derogatory, and incendiary remarks about Sanatan Dharma.

Vineet Jindal, who identifies as a Hindu and a follower of Sanatan Dharma, expressed his distress, stating,‘my religious sentiments are hurt by statements made by Udayanidhi Stalin calling for eradicating Sanatan Dharma and further comparing Sanatan with mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria’.

The complainant further stated that Udayanidhi’s words show his hatred towards Sanatan Dharma. He is an MLA and Minister in the TamilNadu government, taking oath to work as per the constitution of our country and must respect all the religions, but he intentionally made a provocative and defamatory statement for the Sanatan Dharma with the intent to promote enmity between groups on the grounds of religion.

The complainant also added that Udhayanidhi Stalin, by making such a statement, has committed offenses under sections 153A and B, 295A, 298A, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, which are cognizable offenses and very serious in nature.
